Owner-driver workflow versus fleet planning, dispatch and telematics

Which is the better fit for your courier business?

AGM routeMASTER offers fleet planning, dispatch and vehicle-tracking modules. Drive It focuses on an owner driver’s own bookings, routes, customer tracking, delivery evidence and eligible Deliverate opportunities. Our assessment: a driver managing their own UK work and a fleet needing telematics or pallet-network connections should compare different requirements, even when both need proof of delivery. Match the product to the size of the operation

An owner driver usually needs a clear chain from customer instruction to completed delivery. Drive It keeps own-job booking details, routes, tracking and evidence together, with eligible Deliverate opportunities available to assess alongside direct work.

A transport office may also need several dispatchers, vehicle restrictions, account permissions and reporting across the whole fleet. List who must do what before asking for a demonstration. A single membership and a configured fleet installation are different purchasing scopes.

Where routeMASTER’s specialist modules matter

AGM separates planning, dispatch and tracking. Its published tracking tools go beyond a customer watching a delivery: driving scores, trip replay and optional vehicle interfaces address fleet management requirements. [3]

If you need those functions, include hardware, installation, reporting access and support in the quote. If you only need the customer’s delivery record, evaluate that simpler task directly. A longer feature list is useful only when it supports work you actually do.

Pallet integration is a specific requirement

A pallet operator should demonstrate how a consignment enters the system and how completion evidence returns to the correct network. AGM’s published connections make this a relevant part of its assessment. [4]

Do not treat a generic API, a customer tracking link or access to courier opportunities as proof of a pallet-network integration. Ask for the exact network, supported data and working handover before changing an established process.

Use a realistic mixed collection and delivery day

Compare a timed collection, a capacity-sensitive delivery and a late amendment. Check the planned stop sequence, the driver’s instructions and the record that the customer receives. For fleet buying, add each vehicle restriction and office role that matters.

In Drive It, use the approved-user trial to assess the benefit for your own working day. Keep a record of the administration involved and the full cost to continue. We have not benchmarked the products’ routing engines or claimed a mileage saving.
