Connect the handover to a record you can find
PODStar’s capture options matter when your process relies on barcode identification as well as a signature or photo. Demonstrate a consignment with several items and show how the completed evidence stays associated with the correct record. [1]
For Drive It, test the supported outcome, recipient, photo and signature workflow against your customer’s instructions. The benefit is keeping your own delivery evidence with the job rather than reconstructing it from separate messages.
Integration scope can decide the purchase
A system connection needs more than a matching field name. Use sample orders to agree identifiers, amendments, cancellations and how completed evidence returns to the business system. Ask who supports the connection when a record fails to arrive.
For a larger operation, include this work in the supplier’s quote and acceptance process. For an owner driver entering their own jobs, assess whether a simpler workflow already meets the need. Do not assume that an advertised API includes a finished integration.
Assess vehicle tools independently of delivery evidence
Separate the outcomes you need: proof that a delivery was completed, visibility during the journey, and administration of vehicles or staff. Demonstrate each requirement in the relevant product rather than treating a complete fleet package and a driver membership as identical.
If you need wider Nexus office or fleet functions, request that scope specifically. This guide does not claim that every PODStar function is included in the £79 Drive It membership.
Plan the changeover around open jobs and historical POD
Keep a list of work still to be delivered and the evidence you must retain from completed jobs. Agree how you can access that history after a change and test a small set of authorised bookings before moving a whole day.
Use the Drive It trial to assess the actual driving workflow and follow-up process. Keep the costs of transport, mapping and applicable network work visible alongside the membership.
