Count collections as well as deliveries
Onfleet defines a task as a pickup or delivery and counts it for billing when completed. Model your own operation using that definition: a collection and delivery may be two tasks, even when you think of them as one customer booking. SMS and voice usage are charged separately. [1]
When comparing quotations, write down monthly volume, the people needing access, evidence requirements and communication usage. Keeping the same assumptions makes a comparison more useful than looking at two headline prices.
Decide how much office control you need
If you have dispatch staff, several client accounts and a contractual reporting process, demonstrate those requirements with sample jobs before choosing a product. Ask who can create work, amend routes, view customer details and retrieve delivery evidence.
For a sole owner driver, Drive It offers a way to add direct customer work, organise the route and complete the delivery record. If your operation needs a wider team workspace, ask for the appropriate setup rather than assuming every office feature is included in one driver membership.
Evaluate the value beyond the monthly price
Use a representative day with time-sensitive deliveries and a late change. Check the effort needed to update the job and communicate accurately with the customer. Include the time spent finding the completed delivery evidence later.
A larger operational platform may be worthwhile when it supports a team process you depend on. Drive It may be worth considering when your day is centred on your own driving work. Neither advertised software features nor access to a network establishes how much work you will win.
